Q & A

Porcelain tile is the superior choice for bathroom floors and walls. When compared to ceramic, porcelain is much better equipped for wet bathroom areas.

Use Schluter Kerdi membrane for waterproofing. For walls, clean, level, and dry the substrate. Apply unmodified thinset mortar, embed the Kerdi membrane, overlap seams by at least 2 inches, and use Kerdi-Band for sealing. For the floor, use the pre-sloped Schluter Kerdi shower tray, ensuring it is clean and properly fitted. Apply thinset mortar, embed the Kerdi membrane, and integrate the Kerdi-Drain for a complete waterproof system.

On average, it takes about 1-2 weeks to complete.

In most cases, it is possible to install tiles over existing bathroom flooring. However, it depends on the condition and type of the current flooring.

The most common subfloor types for tile installations in bathrooms are cement backer boards or Schluter membrane.

We recommend the Schluter membrane because it provides superior waterproofing, is easier to install, and integrates seamlessly with the Schluter-Kerdi system, offering a complete and reliable waterproof barrier that prevents water damage and ensures the longevity of the tile installation.
