Vasile and Adam were wonderful! Very fast quoting/estimate process and clear list of materials. On install day, they provided several different options for the kitchen backsplash tile layout and talked through exactly how I wanted it to look. They were extremely clean and didn’t leave any mess. They even put on all my plate covers and made sure everything was picture perfect before they left. I am extremely happy with the final product and I can’t wait to call them again for my next tile project. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for high-quality professional work at a great price.

    Questions people ask us often

Answered by our professional bathroom tile installers

There are many different types of bathroom tiles that you can choose from, including:

    1. Ceramic tile: This is a popular choice for bathroom walls and floors because it is durable, water-resistant, and easy to clean. It is also available in a wide range of colors, styles, and sizes.

    2. Porcelain tile: This type of tile is similar to ceramic tile, but it is made from a denser, harder clay. It is also water-resistant and easy to clean, making it a good choice for bathroom walls and floors.

    3. Glass tile: This type of tile is made from pieces of glass that are cut into shapes and mounted on a mesh backing. It is available in a wide range of colors and styles, and it can be used on walls or backsplashes.

    4. Natural stone tile: This includes tiles made from materials such as granite, marble, and slate. Natural stone tiles are more expensive than other types of tiles, but they are also more durable and can add a luxurious look to a bathroom.

    5. Mosaic tile: This type of tile is made up of small, individual tiles that are mounted on a mesh backing. Mosaic tiles are available in a wide range of colors, styles, and materials, and they can be used to create intricate patterns or designs on walls or backsplashes.

    6. Quarry tile: This type of tile is made from unglazed clay and is often used in areas that are prone to moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens. It is a durable and long-lasting option, but it is not as slip-resistant as some other types of tiles.

    7. Vinyl tile: This type of tile is made from a synthetic material that is soft and flexible. It is available in a wide range of colors and styles, and it is an affordable option for bathroom floors.

The best size for bathroom tiles depends on a number of factors, including the size of the bathroom, the layout of the space, and personal preference. Here are some general guidelines for selecting the right size for bathroom tiles:

    1. For small bathrooms: Smaller tiles (such as mosaic tiles) can help make a small bathroom feel larger and more open.

    2. For larger bathrooms: Larger tiles (such as 12×24 inches or larger) can help create a sense of continuity and make the space feel more cohesive.

    3. For walls: Smaller tiles (such as 4×4 inches or smaller) can be used to create a mosaic effect on walls, while larger tiles (such as 12×24 inches or larger) can be used to create a more streamlined look.

    4. For floors: Larger tiles (such as 12×12 inches or larger) can be used on bathroom floors to create a sense of continuity and to make the space feel more cohesive. Smaller tiles (such as mosaic tiles) may be more difficult to install and may not be as durable on floors.

Ultimately, the best size for bathroom tiles is a matter of personal preference and will depend on the specific needs and design goals of your bathroom. It is always a good idea to consider the size of the space, the layout of the room, and the overall design style when selecting tiles for your bathroom.

The best tiles design for a bathroom will depend on the overall style and aesthetic of the room, as well as the specific needs and preferences of the homeowner. Here are a few design ideas to consider when selecting tiles for a bathroom:

    1. Subway tiles: These classic tiles feature a rectangular shape and a glossy finish, and they are available in a wide range of colors. They can be used on walls or backsplashes to create a clean, modern look.

    2. Mosaic tiles: These tiles are made up of small, individual tiles that are mounted on a mesh backing. They are available in a wide range of colors, styles, and materials, and they can be used to create intricate patterns or designs on walls or backsplashes.

    3. Natural stone tiles: These tiles are made from materials such as granite, marble, and slate, and they can add a luxurious, natural look to a bathroom. They are more expensive than other types of tiles, but they are also more durable.

    4. Hexagonal tiles: These tiles have a hexagonal shape and can be used to create a unique, geometric pattern on walls or floors. They are available in a wide range of colors and styles.

    5. Wood-look tiles: These tiles are made from a durable, water-resistant material and are designed to mimic the look of natural wood. They can be used on walls or floors to add warmth and texture to a bathroom.

Ultimately, the best tiles design for a bathroom will depend on the specific needs and design goals of the space. It is always a good idea to consider the size of the room, the layout of the space, and the overall design style when selecting tiles for a bathroom.

When selecting tiles for a shower, it is important to choose a material that is durable, water-resistant, and easy to clean. Some of the best tile materials for a shower include:

    1. Ceramic tile: This is a popular choice for showers because it is durable, water-resistant, and easy to clean. It is also available in a wide range of colors, styles, and sizes.

    2. Porcelain tile: This type of tile is similar to ceramic tile, but it is made from a denser, harder clay. It is also water-resistant and easy to clean, making it a good choice for showers.

    3. Natural stone tile: This includes tiles made from materials such as granite, marble, and slate. Natural stone tiles are more expensive than other types of tiles, but they are also more durable and can add a luxurious look to a shower.

    4. Glass tile: This type of tile is made from pieces of glass that are cut into shapes and mounted on a mesh backing. It is available in a wide range of colors and styles, and it can be used on walls or backsplashes in a shower.

    5. Mosaic tile: This type of tile is made up of small, individual tiles that are mounted on a mesh backing. Mosaic tiles are available in a wide range of colors, styles, and materials, and they can be used to create intricate patterns or designs on walls or backsplashes in a shower.

It is important to note that any type of tile can be slippery when wet, so it is always a good idea to choose a tile with a slightly textured surface or to use a slip-resistant coating for added safety in the shower.

There are many different types of tiles that can be used in a bathroom, and the best choice will depend on the specific needs and design goals of the space. Some of the best options for bathroom tiles include:

    3. Natural stone tile: This includes tiles made from materials such as granite, marble, and slate. Natural stone tiles are more expensive than other types of tiles, but they are also more durable and can add a luxurious look to your bathroom.

The cost to tile a bathroom will depend on a number of factors, including the size of the bathroom, the type of tile being used, and the complexity of the installation. On average, the cost to tile a bathroom can range from $500 to $1,500 or more.

Here are a few factors that can affect the cost of tiling a bathroom:

    1. Size of the bathroom: The larger the bathroom, the more tiles will be needed and the more expensive the project will be.

    2. Type of tile: Different types of tiles have different price points, with natural stone tiles being the most expensive and ceramic or porcelain tiles being more affordable.

    3. Complexity of the installation: If the installation requires cutting tiles to fit around fixtures or making intricate patterns, it will likely be more expensive than a simple, straightforward installation.

    4. Labor costs: The cost of labor will vary depending on the location and the experience level of the tiler. The average labor costs to install tile in NH or MA ranges from $5 to $9 per square foot. It is from $7 to $14 per square foot when adding subfloor.

To get a more accurate estimate of the cost to tile a bathroom, it is a good idea to get quotes from multiple contractors and compare prices. Be sure to discuss all of the details of the project with each contractor, including the type of tile being used, the layout of the space, and any special considerations, to ensure that you get an accurate estimate. For more information you can read our tile installation cost guide.

Using small tiles in a small bathroom can be a good way to make the space feel larger and more open. Small tiles, such as mosaic tiles, can be used to create a sense of continuity and to help the space feel more cohesive.

However, it is important to note that smaller tiles may be more difficult to install and may not be as durable as larger tiles. They may also be more expensive to purchase, as they require more tiles to cover the same area.

Porcelain tile is generally not considered to be slippery when wet, but it is always a good idea to use caution when walking on any type of wet tile. The coefficient of friction (COF) of a tile is a measure of its slip resistance, and porcelain tile generally has a COF of 0.6 or higher, which is considered to be good for wet areas.

However, it is important to note that the COF of a tile can be affected by a number of factors, including the texture of the surface, the angle of the tile, and the type of grout used. Some porcelain tiles may have a smoother finish and may be more slippery when wet, while others may have a more textured surface and may be more slip-resistant.

To further increase the slip resistance of porcelain tiles, you can consider using a slip-resistant coating or grout, or you can choose tiles with a more textured surface. It is also a good idea to use caution when walking on any type of wet tile and to keep the floor dry as much as possible to reduce the risk of slipping.

Both porcelain and ceramic tiles are popular choices for bathroom walls and floors, and both have their own unique benefits. Here are a few key differences between porcelain and ceramic tiles:

    1. Composition: Porcelain tiles are made from a denser, harder clay than ceramic tiles. This makes them more resistant to water and moisture, and they are often used in areas that are prone to moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens. Ceramic tiles are also made from clay, but they are generally not as dense or hard as porcelain tiles.

    2. Durability: Porcelain tiles are generally more durable than ceramic tiles, due to their denser composition. They are less prone to chipping, cracking, and staining, and they can hold up better under heavy foot traffic.

    3. Water resistance: Both porcelain and ceramic tiles are water-resistant, but porcelain tiles are more resistant to moisture and are often used in areas with higher humidity, such as showers.

    4. Cost: Porcelain tiles are generally more expensive than ceramic tiles, due to their denser composition and greater durability.

In conclusion, porcelain tile is the superior choice for bathroom floors and walls. When compared to ceramic, porcelain is much better equipped for wet bathroom areas. It’s also easier to maintain and more durable than ceramic tile.
